Personality: Petra is a classically trained soldier, one that has enjoyed name recognition since the first day she stepped out into an infantry unit from her gang days on Petra. She is the consummate loyalist first. Petra sees herself as a soldier just trying to do what is necessary to survive. She is a strategic tactician and tries to see things from all angles. Some may describe her as having a warm, sensitive nature and would never recognize her from the duty-driven, condescending soldier she once was.

Interests/Hobbies: During her youth, Petra spent a significant quantity of time in street gangs, which forced martial arts skills and street knowledge on her. Since her time in the military, she has collected unique tokens. She also has an affinity for sailing and stargazing, as well as collecting unique weapons to add to her trophy collection.

Family: None known. She never knew her birth parents and spent her life in foster care.

History: Petra was born Rosalyn Guillory on the planet Petra. Her earliest memory was of being pushed around by older foster brothers or else abused by her foster parents. Since she was from a poorer city on the planet, government officials never caught sight of what had been done to her and, when she became old enough to realize that this was not proper behavior, she finally chose to do something about it.

At the age of 14, Rosalyn had her name legally changed to Petra Frost. She stopped going to government-funded schools that taught little more than she already knew and took to a life on the streets. For her, it was difficult as a teenage girl, surrounded by temptation. She was quickly recruited into one of the street gangs and, for the first time in her life, learned discipline. She was quick to learn to defend herself and quicker still to fend for herself and her fellow gang members in order to survive. However, she was above such pettyness as picking pockets or stealing from restaurants and used a more manipulative nature to secure the goods.

At the age of 17, Petra's cities introduced legislation that would secure gang members a place in the Alliance military. Despite having the first "family" she had ever known, Petra chose to enlist. She was quickly brought through basic training and served her first tour on Osiris. 

She surprised her superior officers with her quick thinking and her dedication to her military life. She signed up for every advancement she could and worked through the paces, serving abroad again. She reached the rank of Sergeant before she took the officer's course at 26, nine years after she had first signed on. 

Before the Unification War began, Petra had reached the rank of Captain at 30, surpassing even her broadest ambitions. She was serving on the planet Beylix when Beylix succeeded from the Alliance. Petra's entire squadron, including her squadron leader, agreed to vacate their base and join the Independents. On their first ground battle, Petra was wounded-in-action, receiving a particularly dangerous leg wound. She was quickly withdrawn from battle and treated for her injuries. 

Despite having a list of credentials and medals in her name, Petra's reputation in the Alliance Infantry was shaken and she was discredited for the efforts she made in advancing her career. Her effects were seized and her bank accounts were frozen as a result of her turn-coating the Alliance. Even though the Alliance worked to discredit her, Petra became an Independent war hero, a decorated Alliance soldier brought to shame for defending the planet she lived on and the propaganda around her swelled. It was then that General Wong invited her to join his personal staff as a tactician specialist, which would allow Petra to heal off the battlefield.

Petra was stationed at Three Hills when the ground battle began, followed by the Battle of Sturges. She took command of a broken line of troops, dragging several from harm's way and managed to evade capture for ten days until the war of attrition ended with Petra and the survivors finally fleeing the scene and the Alliance soldiers nearly dying off from starvation. As no reinforcements arrived, Petra took it as a stalemate and held Three Hills for the Independents as long as she could. She has since met other military survivors - other deserters, some runners, all in a fight to survive.
